He Dog, a powerful and respected warrior, a member of the Oglala Lakota Sioux Indian tribe. Oglala means "to scatter ones own". He Dog and his relatives participated in the Great Sioux War of 1876-77. He Dog fought with Crazy Horse in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. He Dog stated the white man has no right to say where I shall go, or what I shall do. The game is mine, and the hills, and the valleys are mine. He finally surrendered at the Red Cloud Agency with Crazy Horse in May 1877. He lived the remainder of his life on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
